I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor with over 20 years of experience working with individuals presenting with a wide range of issues. My work focuses on helping individuals resolve life-controlling problems and enhance their overall coping while exploring underlying issues contributing to these difficulties. I utilize a strength-based approach integrated with cognitive-behavioral and solution focused strategies.
I feel very strongly that the therapeutic relationship is critical in helping clients work through their issues. However, it is also the therapist's style and ability, working collaboratively with clients, to identify these difficulties and plan a course of care in a safe and confidential environment that is equally essential. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, seniors, couples and families.
I specialize in treating individual dealing with anxiety and depressive disorders, relationship issues, family & parenting issues and men's issues. I also have extensive experience in the treatment of substance abuse and all addictions/compulsive disorders, with a strong understanding of the recovery process.
I work with warmth, humor, dedication and enthusiasm. Together, we will identify your strengths and set goals toward addressing and resolving outstanding issues. I enjoy being a catalyst for positive change in my client's lives and hope to have the pleasure of meeting you. Congratulations on taking the first step toward enhancing the quality of your life.
I feel very fortunate to have worked with many skilled and experienced practitioners who provided a strong understanding of psychological issues. I was formerly the Program Director of The Family Treatment Center in Sunrise, Florida; a 100-bed dual-diagnosis inpatient residential treatment program for those dealing with substance abuse and mood disorders. In this position, I was responsible for developing the clinical program, supervising all staff and providing management of the clinical function of the program.
I have also held positions in the private and public sectors and was previously the Director of Clinical Services at Broward Outreach Center, an emergency homeless shelter in Broward County. In this role, I provided both clinical and administrative support to the program. I co-authored a grant and developed a first of its kind program to assist prostitutes to receive treatment, including therapy, education and medication management toward transforming their lives and becoming productive members of society.
I am a graduate of the University of Maryland at Baltimore where I earned my Master's in Social Work and was the recipient of research awards for exploring issues related to child abuse. I have also presented nationally and co-authored publications in the area of child abuse and neglect. I currently maintain a private practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and am a member in good standing with the National Association of Social Workers.
